El Cerrito Police Blotter: Feb. 21st - 27th, 2021

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

February 21st

Theft from Vehicle – 6400 block of Portola Dr.
An unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle, stole cash and the victims work badges. The theft occurred from February 20th at 8:30pm to February 21st at 6:30am.

Petty Theft – (Walgreen’s) 11565 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 3:11 pm, three suspects entered the store and filled a duffle bag with $130.00 worth of cosmetics and snacks. The suspects fled the store without paying for the items.

Petty Theft- 9989 San Pablo Avenue
At 6:18 pm, a customer borrowed a tool from the business to work on her vehicle in the parking lot and failed to return it.

Grand Theft- 11565 San Pablo Avenue
A 7:30 pm, several suspects entered Walgreens and stole over $1100 worth of ice cream and left the business.

February 22nd

Petty Theft- Kearney Street @ Schmidt Lane
An unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and stole miscellaneous items sometime during the night of the 21st.

Grand Theft- 800 block of Sea View Drive
An unknown suspect stole the victim’s catalytic converter from their Honda CRV between the 19th and 21st of February.

Petty Theft- 1000 Liberty Street
An unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and stole miscellaneous items sometime during the night of the 21st.

Grand Theft- 10602 San Pablo Avenue
At 1:56 pm, the victim was seated along San Pablo Avenue working on her laptop when an unknown suspect grabbed the laptop and fled to an awaiting vehicle.

Shoplifting- 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 2:11 pm, two suspects entered the business, concealed merchandise underneath their clothing and left without paying.

February 23rd

Shoplifting- 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 6:00 am, a 46-year-old transient entered the business, stole a bottle of alcohol and was confronted by store employees as he left. Officers arrived on scene and detained the man who was later released at the scene.

Shoplifting- 11060 San Pablo Avenue
At 11:00 am, an unknown suspect entered Big 5 Sporting Goods, stole over $700 in Nike products and fled the business in a Lincoln Navigator.

Shoplifting- 11060 San Pablo Avenue
At 3:00 pm, an unknown suspect went into Big 5 and stole $400 in shoes and fled the business in a Chevy Suburban.

Grand Theft- 7400 block of Sea View Place
At 2:41 am, three unknown suspects removed the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene in a VW Passat.

February 24th

Recovered Stolen Vehicle- 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 7:17 am, an officer located a Ford E-350 van which was reported stolen to the Emeryville PD on the 27th of January.

Vandalism- 11755 San Pablo Avenue
An unknown suspect shattered a back window to a new vehicle which was for sale at the Honda dealership. After reviewing video surveillance footage, it was determined the incident occurred at 9:30 pm on the 23rd.

Vandalism- 7000 block of Gladys Avenue
At 1:45 am, an unknown suspect broke the window to the victim’s vehicle.

February 25th

Vandalism- 900 block of Liberty Street
At 10:31 pm, an unknown suspect broke the window to the victim’s vehicle.

Battery-11281 San Pablo Avenue
At 10:40 pm, two unknown suspects assaulted a McDonald’s employee and fled the business before police arrived.

Grand Theft- 200 block of Carlos Avenue
At 2:06, an unknown suspect stole a catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle.


February 26th

Grand Theft- 900 block of Liberty Street-
An unknown suspect stole four-thousand dollars in tools from a van during the night of the 23rd.

Grand Theft- 1700 block Lexington Avenue-
An unknown suspect stole a catalytic converter from a Land Rover at 4:00 on the morning of the 26th.

Vandalism- Eastshore Boulevard @ San Pablo Avenue-
An unknown suspect vandalized a USPS mailbox.

Grand Theft- 1700 block of Walnut Avenue-
An unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from a Prius between the 21st and the 26th of February.

Shoplifting- 11565 San Pablo Avenue-
At 12:55 pm, an unknown suspect stole several hundred dollars’ worth of clothing from the business.

Vandalism- 2000 block of Key Boulevard-
An unknown suspect cut the lock to an empty garage sometime during the night of the 25th.

February 27th

Warrant Arrest-10300 San Pablo Avenue-
At 12:26 am, officers responded to an alarm at a construction site. Upon arrival, officers located a 23-year-old transient exiting the property. A records check revealed the man had a warrant for his arrest. The man was released in the field with a citation.

Shoplifting- 11565 San Pablo Avenue
At 8:58 am, an unknown suspect entered the business and stole a variety of snacks and left the business without paying.

Battery- 11450 San Pablo Avenue-
At 6:38 pm, a citizen called to report a woman had been knocked to the ground by an unknown male. The victim was located and declined to seek prosecution against the man.
