Village News:

Michigan Avenue Streetscape Project
The Michigan Avenue Streetscape project is expected to start Mid May and last through August of this year. This project will affect the downtown Michigan Avenue area between Gremps Street and La Grave. Information about the project can be found on our website www.pawpaw.net. The first step in this process will be partial tree removal which will be completed by the end of March. In order to protect an endangered species of bat, tree removals are not allowed after March 31st. As a result, the top portions of the street trees will be cut down this month and the stumps will be removed during the project construction period. This will result in downtown having some odd-looking trees for a while before the project actually starts, but we need to do what is required to protect the environment and endangered species in our area.

Village Hall Lobby Hours
Village hall lobby is now open from 8:00am until noon Monday through Friday. We do ask that customers pay utilities by mail, drop box, autopay, or online and avoid coming into the office if possible to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. As vaccinations become more common and instances of the virus are reduced in our area, we will evaluate our lobby’s open hours. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Miller Street Park
The play equipment at Miller Street park is old and unfortunately, we are not able to ensure its continued safety for use by children. We are in the process of removing the equipment as a result. Although we would like to have something in its place in the future, there are currently no approved plans or budget for that project. Anyone with ideas or suggestions on what public amenities could be put in place of the existing equipment is encouraged to contact the village manager by email to  [email protected] or by phone 269-657-3148.

Brush and Leaf Pick Up 2021

Paw Paw Farmer’s Market
The Paw Paw Farmer’s Market is looking for board members that are passionate about making quality, local foods accessible to Paw Paw. Board members should be from the Paw Paw Area and be familiar with Farmers Markets. For more information about the board or to express your interest in joining, please contact the Farmer’s Market Manager, Nadine Jarvis, by email at [email protected]
The Paw Paw Farmers’ Market exists to create a sense of community in the village and surrounding areas. Aiming to create economic opportunities for locally grown, raised, and produced foods and products, the market is a great way to support sustainable agriculture and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit. Showcasing products from Michigan and immediately adjacent counties in Indiana and Ohio, the market regularly features homemade baked goods, unique crafts, and delicious, local produce. Operating on Sundays during the warmer months, the market is open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is located in the parking lot on the northeast corner of Gremps St. and E. Paw Paw St.
