It’s the small things that often breed much bigger problems when overlooked. Nuisance crimes like individuals loitering may seem insignificant, but if allowed to go unchecked, this nuisance crime has had  grave effects in communities.  The proof of this was in the pudding today when Sheriff’s Deputies patrolled stores for suspects loitering around them.  Out of the six arrest that were made, two of them were in possession of handguns.

Suspects Jasper Bryant and Justin Flournoy at separate locations had handguns that were concealed, but neither had a concealed weapons permit.   Both of them along with the other four loiterers are now facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail more affectionately known as “The Hill-ton”.

Please remember that there are 3 things every one can do to help the Sheriff’s Office keep crime low in Clayton County.

1. Never leave firearms in your vehicles unsecured.   Most guns used by criminals to commit violent crimes are stolen from unlocked vehicles.
2. Do not leave key fobs in your car and always cut the vehicle off and lock it when you leave it unattended.  Most of the cars stolen are ones with the keys left in them or left running.  Most major crimes committed by criminals are done with stolen vehicles for transportation and escape.  
3. If you see anything that looks suspicious alway dial 911.  Many criminals could have been caught and many crimes prevented if someone would not have second guess themselves about dialing 911 and did so.  You can never call 911 to much with legitimate concerns.  When in doubt about something suspicious, always dial 911.
