March 9, 2021 - A statement from our City Council.

March 9, 2021

The City Council stands firmly against the recent rise in violence against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.  Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, racist, inflammatory, and xenophobic rhetoric and hate incidents against the AAPI community have intensified across the nation and in LA County.

Racist and xenophobic rhetoric is harmful to everyone; no matter what race you are, the language you speak at home, or the country from which you come— hate has absolutely no place in our city.

Temple City has always taken pride in putting families and public safety first.  No one should have to live in fear of being victimized by hate incidents.  As a city and as a community, we must stand united in our efforts to counter bigotry and acts of hatred.

Your City Council,
Vincent Yu, Mayor
Cynthia Sternquist, Mayor Pro Tempore
Tom Chavez, Councilmember
William Man, Councilmember
Fernando Vizcarra, Councilmember
