22-year old San Jose resident, Ryan Jean-Simon, Arrested for Attempted Murder.
On March 8, 2021 at approximately 12:56 PM, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a business on the 500 block of Mercury Drive on a report of a male who had been attacked with a machete. DPS Patrol officers arrived a few minutes later and found an adult male victim laying in the parking lot and immediately began life-saving measures to control bleeding.
The victim sustained several large lacerations and a fracture during the attack. The victim was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Officers and detectives began their investigation and identified the suspect as Ryan Jean-Simon, a 22-year old San Jose resident and a former employee of the business.
On March 9, 2021, Sunnyvale DPS detectives located and arrested Ryan Jean-Simon without incident. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for 664/187 PC - Attempted Murder. This incident is being investigated as workplace violence and an isolated event, as suspect Jean-Simon was fired back in January 2021. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
