Contra Costa County Moves to Red Tier

Town of Danville Update:  3/12/21

Contra Costa County Moves to Red Tier

With the continued downward trend of positive cases and the increased number of residents getting vaccinated against COVID-19, Contra Costa County will be moving to the Red Tier of the Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

The move to the new tier will take effect on Sunday, March 14, 2021.  Changes that will occur with the move to the new tier include:

  • Restaurants, gyms, dance studios, and museums can reopen indoors, following state health guidelines
  • Elementary and secondary schools may reopen for in-person learning without needing a safety-plan sign-off from Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS)
  • Retail stores, malls, and grocery stores may all increase their indoor capacities
  • Small private gatherings may be held indoors, following state health guidance
  • Colleges may resume indoor lectures, with occupancy limits

While all indicators are good and more individuals are getting vaccinated, it is extremely important that the community continue to follow health guidelines to avoid a resurgence of the virus.  This means residents are asked to continue wearing face coverings, using social distancing, and getting vaccinated when possible.  To find out if you are eligible for the vaccine or to schedule an appointment, go to the MyTurn website.
