Advisory

Felony OWI 4th Offense

On March 13, 2021 at 1:57 AM, an officer with the Middleton Police Department observed a vehicle traveling southbound from Parmenter St to westbound University Ave.  The officer noticed that the vehicle made a wide right hand turn, crossing the lane divider lines. The driver then drove in the center of University Ave, driving in both westbound lanes.  After following the vehicle for a period of time, a traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle stopped.

The driver was identified as Yonatan Albarran-Alvarez, age 31, of Madison.  Officers noted a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Albarran-Alvarez’s breath, he had glassy eyes, and his speech was slurred.  The Officer also noted that Albarran-Alvarez had open intoxicants inside his vehicle in close proximity to him.

Following field sobriety testing, Albarran-Alvarez was arrested for 4th offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), a felony.  He submitted to an evidentiary chemical test of his breath, which registered 0.07. Albarran-Alvarez has a .02 restriction related to his previous OWI offenses.

Albarran-Alvarez was booked into the Dane County Jail for the felony OWI.  He was also ticketed for Improper Right Hand turn and Possession of Open Intoxicants.
