Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are assisting Hawthorne Police Department with an investigation surrounding the shooting death of one male juvenile and the injury of another male juvenile.

The incident was reported Saturday, March 13, 2021, at approximately 12:30 a.m., on the 14300 Cerise Ave, Hawthorne.

Hawthorne Officers responded to a gunshot victim call for service. When officers arrived at the location, they noticed the victims had driven a short distance away from where the actual shooting occurred. 

As the officers approached the victim’s vehicle, they saw both victims had sustained gunshot wounds.  Both victims were transported to a local hospital where one was pronounced dead, and the other victim was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the leg.

The identity of the victim will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

There is no suspect information at this time.
