OFFICERS INVOLVED: Sergeants Michael Melody, Alisa Martinez, Gregory Martone and Christopher Brady, and Officers Dane Richards, Alicea Angelo, Samantha Conners and Kathleen Delanoy
NARRATIVE:
On 3/15/21 at approximately 12:35 pm, officers from the Ocean Township Police Department responded to a reported structure fire located at 2306 Sunset Avenue. Upon arrival, they observed smoke and flames coming from the residence. Contact was made with the homeowner and the residence was found to be clear of any occupants. Officers ensured that all neighboring residences were safely evacuated.
Firefighters from the Wanamassa Fire Department, the Oakhurst Fire Department, the Asbury Park Fire Department, the Deal Fire Department, the Tinton Falls Fire Department and the Allenhurst First Aid Squad responded. No residents were injured and all were accounted for. The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Sunset Avenue has been reopened to all traffic.
