UPDATE - The two victims of the fatal residential fire have been identified; the cause remains under investigation

VICTIMS: Jose Duran, 32 years old, resident of Hesperia
Jennifer Lynn McDaniel, 37 years old, resident of Hesperia
UPDATE – March 19, 2021
On March 17th at 6:35 p.m. the second victim, Jennifer McDaniel, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Updates will be posted as new information becomes available.
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at approximately 9:39 a.m., deputies from the Hesperia Police Station along with personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department were dispatched to a residence located in the 16000 block of Orange Street in reference to a garage fire. Upon arrival, deputies were notified of the possibility of people inside of the garage. Fire personnel along with deputies were able to remove two victims from the garage: one male and one female. The unidentified male was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The unidentified female was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Sheriff’s Bombs and Arson Detail responded to the location to conduct the investigation along with County Fire investigators. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
