An injury traffic collision occurred on Mariposa Rd. near Avenal Street; the cause is under investigation

INCIDENT: Injury Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Mariposa Road / Avenal Street, Hesperia
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at approximately 8:39 p.m., deputies from the City of Hesperia, along with rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded near the intersection of Mariposa Road and Avenal Street reference a traffic collision involving two vehicles; a 2018 Kia Optima and a 1995 GMC Suburban.
Preliminary evidence indicates the GMC was travelling southbound on Mariposa Road and crossed over the center line into northbound traffic, resulting in a head-on collision with the Kia. All parties involved were transported to hospitals for treatment. The driver of the GMC suffered moderate injuries and the passenger sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Kia suffered minor injuries.
Alcohol may be a contributing factor and the collision remains under investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact Deputy D. Holland from the Hesperia Station.
