Deputies are investigating an injury collision involving a vehicle versus bicyclist on E Avenue near Olive Street

LOCATION: E Avenue / Olive Street, Hesperia
DRIVER: Laura Byrd, 55-year-old female
BICYCLIST: Derrianna Daniels, 22-year-old female
SUMMARY:
On Friday, March 19, 2021 at approximately 1:00 p.m., deputies from the City of Hesperia, along with rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the intersection of E Avenue and Olive Street in reference to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist.
Preliminary evidence indicated the vehicle was travelling westbound on Olive Street, approaching the intersection with E Avenue and the bicyclist, Daniels, was riding northbound on E Avenue on the southbound side of traffic. The driver of the vehicle, Byrd, stopped at the posted stop sign but did not see the bicyclist, resulting in a collision. Daniels suffered moderate injuries and was flown to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
The collision remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact Deputy S. Lopiccolo from the Hesperia Station.
