Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 03/21/2021 at approximately 1357 hours his office was called to investigate a crash involving a single motor vehicle. The crash occurred in the 2600 block of Terminal Street in Howard Township, Cass County Michigan.

Upon investigation it was determined that 21 yr old Berrien Springs resident, Noah Heiermann, was the driver of the vehicle. He was traveling east bound on Terminal when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, striking a tree. Howard Township Fire Department extricated Heiermann from the vehicle and he was transported by SMACS Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

It is unknown if intoxicating substances are a factor and it is believed that he was wearing his seat belt.

This crash remains under investigation.
