Crime Blotter for the Week of March 14-20, 2021

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of March 14, 2021– March 20, 2021.        
 
March 14, 2021

  • No significant activity.
 
March 15, 2021
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 1200 Block of Kellwill Way. The victim’s Ford F-250 was stolen between 03-14-21, 5:00 pm, and 03-15-21, 9:00 am. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The vehicle is still outstanding.
 
March 16, 2021
  • Petty Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft from his unlocked vehicle near the 300 Block of Mountain Crest Road. Between 03-15-21, 6:00 pm, and 03-16-21, 7:00 am, unknown persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a CPR mannequin and four AED Trainers. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $518.

March 18, 2021
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon:
An assault with a deadly weapon was reported near Broach Avenue/Beckville Street. Two adult males had a verbal argument over a past and present dating relationship with a female adult.The argument escalated, and one of the males brandished a knife in a threatening manner.As the suspect drove away, he attempted to hit the victim with his vehicle. The victim was not injured. Deputies searched the area for the suspect, who was gone before their arrival. Temple Station Detectives are investigating the case.
  • Petty Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 2000 Block of Starhaven Avenue. The theft occurred between 03-17-21, 8:00 pm, and 03-18-21, 6:00 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2005 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $700.
  • Petty Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1800 Block of Park Rose Avenue. The theft occurred between 03-17-21, 4:00 pm, and 03-18-21, 3:00 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2005 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $700.

March 20, 2021
  • Petty Theft (Shoplifting):
An informant reported a theft at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target). Loss Prevention reviewed surveillance video and noticed a male adult entered the store on 03-14-21 and selected several alcohol bottles and placed them in a bag. The suspect exited the store, making no attempt to pay for the items. Surveillance video captured the incident. The estimated loss was $243.95.
  • Aggravated Assault (Spousal)
A domestic violence incident was reported on the 1200 block of Highland Avenue at approximately 10:05 pm. The victim reported being assaulted by her husband. A male adult was arrested.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 2000 Block of Park Rose Avenue. The victim’s Chevrolet Silverado was stolen between 03-19-21, 6:00 pm, and 03-20-21, 2:30 pm from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. South Gate Police Department recovered the vehicle on 03-21-21. No one in custody.
 
 
CRIME PREVENTION TIPS
 
Driving Safely:
  • Keep your car in good running condition. Make sure there’s enough gas to get where you’re going and back.
  • Turn the ignition off and take your car keys with you, even if you just to run inside for one minute.
  • Roll up the windows and lock your car doors, even if you are coming right back.
  • Avoid parking in isolated areas. If you are uncomfortable, ask a security guard or store staff to watch you or escort you to your car.
  • Drive to the nearest gas station, open business, or other well-lighted, crowded area to get help if you think you are being followed. Don’t head home. 
  • Use your cellular phone, if you have one, to call the police.  If you are being followed or you’ve seen an accident.  Otherwise, stay off your cellular phone while you are driving.
