Deputies contacted a parolee at large, Steven Shelton & he rammed the police car; a gun & drugs were found in his car

INCIDENT: HS 11351 – Possession of Narcotics for Sale
HS 11370.1 (A) – Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed
PC 245 (C) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Peace Officer (Not a Firearm)

LOCATION: 7400 Block of Archibald Avenue

SUSPECT: Steven Shelton, 40-years-old of Rancho Cucamonga
Leo Ferrio, 32-years-old of Rancho Cucamonga


Summary: On Tuesday, March 23, 2021 deputies from the Special Enforcement Division and the Rancho Cucamonga Station attempted to contact a parolee at large, identified as Steven Shelton. Shelton was sitting his vehicle which was parked in the driveway of his home. When deputies approached him, he used his car and rammed a police vehicle. Deputies ordered Shelton out of the vehicle and detained him.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they located two grams of methamphetamine and a 9mm pistol affixed with a red dot site and a silencer. Deputies served a search warrant at the house and contacted a second suspect, identified as Leo Ferrio. During the search, deputies found an additional 30 grams of methamphetamine and heroin.

Shelton and Ferrio were arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center. Ferrio was charged with possession of narcotics for sale and released on his own recognizance while Shelton remains in custody without bail on charges of narcotics for sale while armed, assault on a peace officer, and a parole violation.
