Crime Alert Bulletin for the Week of March 15-21, 2021
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Notable Cases
On Monday, 03-15-21 at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6200 block of Mission Street on a report of an intoxicated male who was reported to be hitting people as they walked past him. The subject, a 38-year old San Francisco resident, was intoxicated and was booked into jail.
On Wednesday, 03-17-21 at 12:51 p.m., Officer Grogan stood by for an exchange of information for a traffic collision on the 500 block of Clarinada Avenue. The dispatcher advised that one of the drivers, a 43-year old Menlo Park resident, had failed to register as part of his sex registration requirement. The subject was booked into jail for failing to register as a sex offender.
On Wednesday, 03-17-21 at 2:59 p.m., Officer Risslen was dispatched to the Home Depot store on a report of a theft. When the suspect left the store, an anonymous onlooker pushed the subject to the ground, and Home Depot was able to recover the stolen merchandise. The dispatchers said after the subject was pushed to the ground, the subject brandished a machete and fled on a bicycle towards Southgate Avenue. Officer Moody and Officer Fulmore arrived and saw the subject on a bicycle at the intersection of Southgate Avenue and Lake Merced Blvd. The officers asked for the suspect’s consent to search his person and backpack, and the subject granted permission. The officers found a large metal machete, two glass pipes and a small plastic bag containing a white crystal substance—methamphetamine. The subject refused to provide a statement, and Officer Risslen cited the 33-year old transient subject for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a dirk or a dagger.
On Friday, 03-19-21 at 11:03 p.m., a 25-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after she was involved in a collision with two parked cars at Hillside Boulevard and Cottonwood Drive.
On Saturday, 03-20-21 at 10:32 p.m., Officer Greene was driving a marked patrol car on northbound Highway 1 from Highway 35 when a Dodge Ram pickup quickly changed lanes directly in front of Officer Greene’s vehicle. The pickup was within five feet of the front bumper of the patrol car. Officer Greene conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle, and the driver explained his abrupt lane change was an attempt to let him know that he (Officer Greene) was driving in his blind spot. The officer explained to the subject that he could have either sped up or applied his brakes to avoid him being in his blind spot. The vehicle registration was expired in February 2020. The 59-year old driver, an El Granada resident, was on probation for driving under the influence and was subject to search/seizure and compliance checks. Officer Greene asked the subject if he had anything illegal on his person, and the subject said he did not. Officer Premenko arrived to assist, and Officer Greene searched the subject’s vehicle and found two glass pipes and a pill bottle containing 24 oxycodone hydrochloride pills, for which the subject did not have a prescription. Officer Greene cited the subject for possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.
On Sunday, 03-21-21 at approximately 9:46 a.m., Officer Perdomo and Officer N. Martin were dispatched to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon by vehicle (a gray Dodge Dakota) on the 400 block of Irvington Street. The 30-year old victim said he and his girlfriend were standing outside their residence when they heard “grinding” noises. The victim interrupted a subject who was tampering with a vehicle and said the suspect got into a Dodge Dakota. The victim said he used his cellphone and started filming the subject in the vehicle. The vehicle backed out of the parking spot, did multiple turns to turn around and drove into the victim, striking the victim’s lower right side of his abdomen, right knee, and right forearm. This investigation is continuing.
On Sunday, 03-21-21 at 11:00 a.m., Officer Dolan was dispatched to Dunn Edwards on a report of a suspicious person who was acting erratically. Officer Dolan arrived to find the subject who completely ignored his presence and stared into the sky. The subject appeared to be under the influence and was unable to answer any basic questions. Officer Dolan detained the subject and found a glass pipe and torn piece of foil. Recognizing these objects are commonly used to ingest controlled substances, Officer Dolan brought the subject to the station to conduct a series of tests to determine if the subject was under the influence. The subject admitted to using both fentanyl and methamphetamine and couldn’t remember which one he recently used. Officer Dolan booked the 22-year old transient subject in jail for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
On Sunday, 03-21-21 at approximately 6:45 p.m., three unknown suspects broke into approximately 13 mailboxes on the 100 block of CItyview Drive. The subjects were last seen fleeing in a black Honda Civic. This case is forwarded to the United States Postal Inspector.

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
