Flood Warning until 05:45AM Friday

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flood Warning for... Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina... Clay County in southwestern North Carolina... Polk County in east Tennessee...

* Until 545 AM EDT.

* At 1146 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen Thursday, with locally higher amounts.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include... Andrews, Murphy, Benton, Ducktown, Hayesville, Hiawasse Dam, Violet, Unaka, Hot House, Culberson, Turtletown, William L. Davenport Refuge, Copperhill, Marble, Brasstown, Archville, Big Frog Mountain, Hiwassee Ocoee State Park, Reliance and Tusquitee. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area through early morning.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CHEROKEE, NC ... CLAY, NC ... POLK, TN

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
