On Monday, March 15th, 2020, at approximately 2:18 AM, Redwood City Police Officers responded to the Wine Bar, located at 840 Brewster Avenue, on a report of a fight. Upon arrival, Officers located the victim, who was unconscious with head injuries. Witnesses reported the victim had been assaulted by another group of male subjects that had been drinking in the bar. The witnesses told police the victim had been punched and fell to the ground. While on the ground the suspects continued to punch and kick the victim. The suspects then fled the area in several vehicles in different directions and have not been identified. The victim was transported to the hospital with major non-life threatening injuries.

Redwood City Detectives reviewed video surveillance from a nearby business, which showed the suspect kicking the already unconscious victim in the head before fleeing in a reed Chevy Camaro. Detectives were able to identify the suspect and began conducting surveillance on his residence.

On March 26th, 2021, the suspect, identified as Aldo Medinavalenzuela (30-year old male), was seen leaving his residence in the red Camaro. Detectives initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and were able to take Medinavalenzuela into custody without incident. Medinavalenzuela was booked into the San Mateo County jail.
