Crime Stoppers Offers Reward for Help Locating Shooting Suspect

Crime Stoppers and Las Cruces police are asking for the public’s help locating the man believed to be responsible for Sunday’s fatal shooting and the woman who may be accompanying him.

Alfonso Rodriguez, 32, whose last known address is 2230 Dona Ana Rd., is believed to be responsible for Saturday morning shooting death of 37-year-old Ramon Archuleta. The shooting took place about 1 a.m. Sunday, March 28, at 1907 W. Picacho Ave.

Rodriguez may be in the company of his girlfriend, Leanna Herrera, also 32. Police have reason to believe Rodriguez may be armed and he has displayed violent tendencies.

Rodriguez is 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He has several tattoos including one that covers the back of his head and the image of a rabbit on the right side of his neck. Herrera is 5-feet-2-inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds. She was last known to have pink/red hair.

Las Cruces-Dona Ana County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that helps police locate Rodriguez and Herrera.

About 1 a.m. Sunday, March 28, Las Cruces police were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on a man at 1907 W. Picacho Ave. Officers arrived to find the man, later identified as Ramon Archuleta, on the ground, outside an apartment and unresponsive. Police determined Archuleta suffered at least one gunshot wound and was declared deceased on scene.

Investigators learned that Archuleta got into a physical confrontation with Rodriguez inside an apartment. Rodriguez allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at least one round at Archuleta who stumbled out of the apartment and fell to the ground.

Police were told Rodriguez fled to a nearby apartment. Police surrounded the apartment and called out LCPD’s SWAT team to enter, but Rodriguez was not located inside.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Alfonso Rodriguez or Leanna Herrera is asked to immediately call 911. Tips can be provided anonymously by calling Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be provided through the Las Cruces Crime Stoppers app, “P3 TIPS.” The app is available through the App Store on most devices.
