Attempted Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested
Suspect: Domingo Molina, Jr., 37-year old male (In-custody)
On 3/30/21 at 2059 hours, Redwood City Police Officers responded to 560 Charter Street on a report of an attempted armed robbery. The victims stood just outside of their garage area, they were confronted by a male, later identified as Domingo Molina (37). Molina demanded a beverage from the victims. After the victims refused Molina’s request, Molina took out a black semi-automatic pistol from his waistband and pointed it at the victims. Fearing that they were about to be shot, they quickly walked away. Molina did not pursue the victims and fled on foot.
Molina was later identified as the suspect from a photo line-up. The suspect was last seen entering a residence in the 500 block of Flynn Avenue.
After they learned that the suspect had entered a residence on the 500 block of Flynn Avenue, Redwood City Police Officers responded to the address and established a perimeter around the residence and attempted to negotiate with Molina to exit the residence. After numerous failed attempts over the course of the night, the Redwood City SWAT team with assistance from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and San Mateo Police Department responded to the scene. Negotiators from the Redwood City Police Department Hostage Negotiations Team and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Critical Incident Team attempted further negotiations; however, Molina refused to exit the residence. After approximately 14 hours of failed negotiations, that employed multiple modes and methods of communications, including pleading requests from family members with the suspect to surrender peacefully and unarmed, Redwood City Police SWAT members deployed chemical agents into the residence. After several minutes, the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody without further resistance. After being medically evaluated for previous injuries sustained else ware, the suspect was booked into county jail for attempted armed robbery, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, and on an outstanding felony warrant.
