Crime Alert Bulletin for the week of March 22-28, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 03-23-21 at approximately 11:53 p.m., Officer Moody was on patrol on the 6200 block of Mission Street and saw three subjects standing in front of a business that was burglarized a few months prior. Subsequent to this contact, Officer Moody cited one subject, a 22-year old Sacramento resident, for possession of methamphetamine and glass pipe. The second subject, a 23-year old Healdsburg resident, was cited for possession of methamphetamine and heroin, and the third suspect, a 20-year old Windsor resident, was cited for possession of heroin. The first and third suspects were on probation.

On Wednesday, 03-25-21 at 11:59 p.m., Officer Lajoie was dispatched to the Westlake Shopping Center parking lot near Nation’s on a report of a subject who was driving erratic, almost hitting parked vehicles and unable to maintain lanes. The reporting party said the subject parked his Jeep and got out of the vehicle. Officer Lajoie found the vehicle and waited for the driver to return to the vehicle. When the driver returned, he backed out and had trouble with his headlights. Officer Lajoie conducted a traffic stop and did field sobriety tests on the driver to determine if he was driving under the influence. Officer Lajoie cited the subject, a 56-year old South San Francisco resident, for driving under the influence and transported him to the First Chance facility.

On Friday, 03-26-21 at 9:25 a.m., Officer B. McCarthy and Officer Serbin were dispatched to the parking lot of Daly City Mitsubishi on a report of a female sleeping in one of the vehicles on the vehicle dealership’s parking lot. The subject told the officers it was cold the night before, and she needed somewhere to rest. The 37-year old subject had methamphetamine in her possession, and she was issued a citation.

On Friday, 03-26-21 at 2:14 p.m., a resident on the 100 block of Linda Vista Drive was napping when she heard people talking in front of her house. She looked out her bedroom window and saw a vehicle she did not recognize that was backed up in her driveway. The victim went downstairs and saw a subject walk across her backyard/kitchen window towards the back door. The victim said she got closer and saw a male trying to hide by the back door. The victim described the subject as a black male between 20-30 years old wearing a black face mask, Adidas hooded sweatshirt, and black pants.. After he was interrupted by the resident, the suspect got into his vehicle, and the victim was able to take a video of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the license plate on the vehicle was reported stolen, there are no leads to this case.

On Sunday, 03-28-21 at 8:57 p.m., Officer Zhang, Officer Tualaulelei and other officers were dispatched to a residence on the unit block of Seaview Drive on a report of an unknown male rummaging through the garage of a gated property. The reporting party was alerted by her “Ring” app on her cellphone that someone was rummaging through her garage. The reporting party viewed the occurrence over live video surveillance and told the officers that she did not recognize the subject. Officer Perdomo contacted the subject who was sitting in a car near the residence. The subject, a 44-year old convicted felon who lives in Daly City, was arrested for burglary, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and for a parole violation.

On Sunday, 03-28-21 at 10:28 p.m., Officer Greene was dispatched to the 1100 block of Brunswick Street on a report of a blocked driveway. The dispatchers advised the officer that the vehicle was reported stolen to the San Francisco Police Department. Officer Mendiara and Lieutenant Fox arrived to assist, and the officers saw a male subject sitting in the front seat. The subject, a 34-year old Daly City resident, was subsequently arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of burglary tools.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
