City Encourages Commuters to Utilize Alternative Roads to Vista del Mar - Press Release

City Encourages Commuters to Utilize Alternative Roads to Vista del Mar
Beginning April 5, City of Los Angeles will Reduce Vista del Mar by One Southbound Lane

Manhattan Beach, CA (April 1, 2021) – Beginning on Monday, April 5, 2021, the City of Los Angeles will begin emergency slope stabilization work on Vista del Mar that will require a 1.7 mile southbound lane closure for approximately two to three weeks.

The lane closure will be located in the right, southbound lane of Vista Del Mar between Imperial Highway (south) and Waterview Street (north) for 24 hours per day, Monday through Friday. No impacts will be made to the northbound lanes.

The emergency work is needed due to erosion caused by rain which has impacted the safety and stability of the roadway. At three sites, erosion gullies have undermined the southbound right lane and locally removed soils supporting the roadway resulting in an unsafe condition. Due to the unsafe condition, the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering recommended emergency repairs be performed as soon as possible to restore support to the roadway and reduce erosion.

For additional information and questions regarding the project, the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineer Public Affairs Office may be contacted at 310-978-0333.
