Crime Blotter for the Week of March 28 - April 3, 2021

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of March 28, 2021– April 03, 2021.        
 
March 28, 2021

March 30, 2021
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter stolen near the 1300 Block of Valencia Lane. The theft occurred on 03-30-21 at 11:28 pm. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2006 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $2,000.
 
March 31, 2021
  • Robbery:
A victim reported a robbery at 1322 Huntington Drive (Grocery Outlet). The victim attempted to detain a male adult from shoplifting items from the store. While the victim was detaining the suspect, he punched him once in the face and pointed a knife at him. After the altercation, the suspect walked out of the store and was detained by responding Deputies. Deputies arrested the suspect without further incident.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle had been stolen near the 1800 Block of Highland Avenue. The victim’s Chevrolet Camaro was stolen on 03-31-21 at approximately 7:40 pm from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. San Dimas Sheriff Station recovered the vehicle on 04-01-21. No one was in custody.

April 02, 2021
  • Grand Theft (Shoplifting):
An informant reported a theft at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target). Asset Protection employee reviewed surveillance video and noticed on 03-24-21, at approximately 7:19 pm, a male adult entered the store and selected several cosmetic items from within the store. The suspect placed the items inside his jacket pockets and exited the store, making no attempt to pay for the items. Surveillance video captured the incident. The estimated loss was $969.71
 
April 03, 2021
  • Grand Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft from his unlocked vehicle near the 1500 Block of Calle Andres. Between 04-02-21, 10:00 pm, and 04-03-21, 8:00 am, unknown persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole an Apple MacBook Air from the backseat. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,000.
 
 
CRIME PREVENTION TIPS FOR SENIORS
Walking:
  • If you are a victim of a crime during your walk, make as much noise as possible by calling for help or blowing a whistle. Do not pursue your attacker. Call 911 and report the crime as soon as possible.
  • Avoid walking alone at night. Try to have a friend accompany you in a high-risk area, even during the daytime.
  • Always plan your route and stay alert to your surroundings. Walk confidently.
  • Have a companion accompany you.
  • Walk in well-lighted areas.
  • Have your key ready when approaching your front door.
  • Carry only what you need during your walks, don’t carry large, bulky shoulder bags or a purse.  Make sure to carry a cellphone.
