A fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred at Locust Avenue North of Mauna Loa Street

SUSPECT(S): Unknown
VICTIM(S): 57-Year-Old Male
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at about 8:53 p.m., deputies from the Hesperia Station responded to a hit-and-run traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Locust Avenue north of Mauna Loa Street in the City of Hesperia. Upon arrival, deputies determined an unknown vehicle struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision. The adult male pedestrian suffered major injuries during the collision and was pronounced deceased on scene by emergency personnel. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation. The driver and the involved vehicle have not been located or identified and the investigation is ongoing. Positive identification of the victim is pending.
Locust Avenue from Mauna Loa Street to Pendleton Street was closed for several hours while deputies from the Hesperia Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) processed the scene.
