Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 10:15PM Thursday

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Stephens County in northeastern Georgia... Southeastern Habersham County in northeastern Georgia... West central Oconee County in Upstate South Carolina...

* Until 1015 PM EDT.

* At 949 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 5 miles west of Toccoa, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include... Toccoa, Mount Airy, Avalon, Boydville, Eastanolee, Clarkesville and Demorest.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HABERSHAM, GA ... STEPHENS, GA ... OCONEE, SC

Instructions:

A few trees and power lines will be blown down in the warned area. Hail can cause major property damage, especially to vehicles. Seek shelter inside an interior room. This storm is producing frequent and intense lightning. Turn off electrical appliances. Do not use corded telephones. Do not take a bath or shower. Lake Hartwell is in the path of this storm. Get away from the water and seek shelter in an interior room in the nearest shelter. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
