Lowell Point Avalanches - Be Careful

City of Seward
Public Notice Friday April 9, 2021
*Lowell Point Road Avalanches *
Public Works crews are attempting to keep up with clearing avalanches on Lowell Point Road to allow traffic through as much as possible.  At this time three areas are very active with snow flowing down across the road. We will keep checking conditions and clearing snow throughout the day today until 4:00pm as needed. Public Works will remain on call and clear snow until midnight tonight. Please be sure to travel before then. If needed we will start clearing again at 7:00am Saturday morning. In order keep us all safe, all travelers to or from Lowell Point should complete the commute prior to 11:00pm on weekdays and prior to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. By planning ahead to follow these guidelines residents and visitors can make it home prior to the nightly work stoppage and the Public Works operators can work much safer by avoiding most of the dangerous night time work. The road is open to travel but use extra caution while driving, especially around the heavy equipment and workers by the avalanches. To Report road hazards during daytime hours call 224-4058, or call Police dispatch at 907-224-3338 anytime.
