A traffic collision occurred at Victoria Avenue and East 5th Street

SUMMARY:
On Sunday, April 11, 2021, at approximately 6:03 pm, a deputy from the Highland Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Nissan 350Z for traffic violations. The driver of the Nissan failed to yield, and the deputy pursued the vehicle with his emergency lights and siren activated. The driver of the Nissan ran the red light at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and 5th Street in the city of San Bernardino. When the deputy followed the Nissan, the deputy collided with a Jeep Cherokee in the intersection of Victoria and 5th Street. The deputy and the driver of the Jeep were transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained as a result of the collision. The deputy was treated and released from the hospital.
The driver of the Nissan was located nearby and arrested for evading.
Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and investigated the traffic collision.
