SUBJECT:  Arrest made at local motel for multiple burglaries

ACCUSED: Leamon Washington //  48 year old male // Wall Township, NJ
 
NARRATIVE:   On April 4^th, 2021 at approximately 4:13 am officers responded to Danny’s Place, located at 2104 Sunset Avenue for an alarm.  Once on scene, responding officers determined that a burglary had occurred at that location.  The front door to the business had been shattered and entry had been made.  The accused attempted to open the cash register but was unsuccessful and left the area.  The incident was captured on video surveillance.  A short time later, officers located the accused at the Tower Motel, located at 1108 State Highway 35.  The accused initially provided officers with inaccurate pedigree information and then attempted to flee the scene.  The accused, who was ultimately identified as Leamon Washington, was subsequently apprehended.  During the apprehension, an officer sustained a minor injury and was later treated by the Wanamassa First Aid.
 
Mr. Washington was charged with Burglary, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Criminal Mischief, Obstructing the Administration of Law, Hindering his Own Apprehension and Resisting Arrest.  Mr. Washington also had an outstanding parole violation warrant for his arrest.  Mr. Washington was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute pending an initial court appearance.
 
Information was later developed during the course of the investigation that linked Mr. Washington to another burglary that occurred on March 26^th 2021 at The Fluff and Fold Laundromat, located at 1111 State Highway 35.  Mr. Washington was subsequently charged with Burglary, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Criminal Mischief and Theft as a result of his involvement in that incident.  These charges were issued on a criminal warrant pending an initial court appearance.
