Subject: Foxdale Apartments Shooting Incident
On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at 10:43pm, the Sun Prairie Police Department responded to Foxdale Apartments, Foxdale Drive, Sun Prairie, for a report of a shooting. When Officers arrived they located a 19 year old male victim from the shooting, who was shot inside an apartment. The male victim sustained a gunshot wound to his hand and an injury to his eye. He was transported to a local hospital.
Witnesses on scene described the suspect as a male subject and the gun he used as an AR style rife. With the assistance of Dane County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Police Department, Town of Madison Police Department, and DeForest Police Department, Officers set up a perimeter in an attempt to locate and track the suspect, who had initially fled the scene on foot. Those attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful.
All information at this time indicates this was a targeted incident and not a random incident. This is a very active and fluid investigation and more information will be released when available and appropriate. **UPDATE April 14th, 2021**
Through the last several months, investigators have been following up on leads and evaluating key pieces of evidence. Ultimately, several charges have been referred to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office for the following:
- Jerrod Worzella, 24 year old male from Wisconsin Rapids, Attempted 1st Degree Homicide and Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Curtis Gadke, 36 year old male from Wisconsin Rapids, Party to the Crime – Attempted 1st Degree Homicide
- Luke Harmon, 29 year old from Wisconsin Rapids, Party to the Crime – Attempted 1st Degree Homicide
- Riley Esselman, 23 year old male from Wisconsin Rapids, Party to the Crime – Attempted 1st Degree Homicide
- Brandon Hermanson, 37 year old from Wisconsin Rapids, Party to the Crime – Attempted 1st Degree Homicide
Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
