NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
FIRE HYDRANT FLUSHING
WATER MAIN FLUSHING TO BEGIN IN CALDWELL
CALDWELL – As part of the Borough’s routine maintenance of the water distribution system, the Water Department will be inspecting and flushing fire hydrants. We will start on Monday, April 19, 2021 between the hours of 9:00pm and 1:00am. Work will begin in the easterly section of the Borough on Ryerson Avenue and proceed westerly to Lane Avenue. This operation should last about 3 weeks.
Flushing water mains involves systematic opening of fire hydrants allowing them to flow for several minutes. Residents may experience a drop in water pressure and slight discoloration in their water following the flushing. If this occurs, it is suggested that the residents run their water until it clears. The discoloration is temporary and presents no ill health effects, but may cause staining on laundry. Residents are therefore advised to be sure water is running clear before washing clothes.
