As we approach National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 24th, it is important to remember that proper disposal of unused, expired, and unneeded prescription drugs can reduce drug abuse, save lives, and prevent unsafe chemicals from polluting our drinking water.
Is your medicine cabinet filled with old bottles of half-used prescriptions? They might seem harmless, but that medicine can spell disaster if misused, and disposing of prescription drugs the wrong way can harm our Nation’s water supply and our environment.
On Saturday, April 24th from – 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., the Fairfield Police Department is teaming up with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to provide the public a with a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of expired, unused, unwanted and potentially dangerous prescription drugs.
To keep everyone safe, our collection site will follow local COVID-19 guidelines and regulations. This drive-thru event will be in the Civic Center Parking Lot on Kentucky St. Look for the traffic cones and follow the guidance of police staff on-site. Have your medications ready for drop off in a Ziplock bag or the original container. We are not accepting liquids, needles or sharps at this event, (only pills or patches.) This service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
