San Leandro Police Arrest Juveniles Connected to Robberies.

On Friday, April 9th, at 1230 pm, San Leandro Police investigated an attempted robbery at Chase Bank, located at 1320 Fairmont Drive.  The victim said he had withdrawn money from the ATM when he was approached by three juveniles who pointed a gun at him, demanding his money.  The victim claimed to be an off-duty police officer, even though he was not, and the suspects fled without taking any money.

The victim described the suspects fleeing in a smaller white SUV.

On the same day, approximately 6 hours later, another victim had arrived home in the 300 block of Pershing Drive when he was approached by two juveniles, who tried to carjack him using a gun.  The victim body-slammed one of the suspects, which disarmed the suspect of the weapon.  Both suspects then fled in a smaller white SUV.

Surveillance video from both cases revealed it was the same getaway car, a white Kia Niro.

On Tuesday, April 13th, the Oakland Police arrested three juveniles inside the Kia and were involved in an armed robbery.  The juveniles were arrested and released to their guardians.

On Friday, April 16th, SLPD responded to a carjacking in the 200 block of Begier Avenue.  SLPD captured the suspects in Oakland and arrested four juveniles, an 11-year-old, a 12-year-old, and two 14-year old’s.

Two of the suspects were the same suspects from the Chase Bank and Pershing Drive carjacking.

“Although we do not encourage individuals to resist an armed encounter, we are thankful that in both cases, the victim’s acted quickly to prevent them from being injured and having the belongings stolen,” said Lt. Ali Khan.

The cases have been referred to the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center for prosecution.
