Seven Drivers Arrested at Rialto Police Department’s Checkpoint
Rialto, Calif. – The Rialto Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, April 16th in the 1400 block of W. Foothill Blvd. During this checkpoint, the Rialto Police Department, along with (4) deputies from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office, made a total of (7) arrests and issued (31) citations.
Of the (7) arrests, (3) drivers were arrested for felony possession and transportation of drugs, (3) were arrested for outstanding warrants, and (1) was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Of the (31) citations issued, (22) drivers were cited for being unlicensed and, (9) were cited for driving under a suspended/revoked driver’s license. Those (31) driver’s license violations resulted in the impounding of (7) vehicles.
Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired. The Rialto Police Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling.
The Rialto Police Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Friday, May 14th, 2021.
