Curfew Will Not Be Enacted
As of April 21st, at 10:35 p.m., the City of San Leandro will not enact a curfew. The basis of this decision is on the proactive work by the Police Department (intelligence gathering and enhanced physical presence), voluntary early closures of businesses, and residents choosing to stay home.
Additionally, our public messaging on Nixle, social media, and e-mail effectively deterred criminal activity. At a moment's notice, our city came together to protect each other.
This evening at Bayfair Center, a group of about 100 people took over the roadway, and vehicles were observed circling the mall property. The police department received information that another nearby city was being targeted and they forwarded that information to the local law enforcement agency.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to follow Police announcements by signing up for Nixle updates at https://local.nixle.com/city/ca/san-leandro/ or by texting their zip code to 888777.
