ENHANCED RISK OF WILDFIRE SPREAD THIS AFTERNOON
...ENHANCED RISK OF WILDFIRE SPREAD THIS AFTERNOON...
A combination of dry and windy conditions will create an enhanced risk for the spread of wildfires across New Jersey and Delaware this afternoon. Minimum relative humidity values are forecast to be around 25 to 30 percent this afternoon, with wind gusts in excess of 30 mph. Most areas received less than 0.25 inch of rain yesterday, and many areas received less than 0.10 inch, keeping potential fuel sources relatively dry.
Instructions:
Residents are urged to exercise caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery, cigarettes or matches. If dry grasses and tree litter begin to burn, the fire will have the potential to spread quickly.
