The DEA’s Take Back Day event provides an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.
The National DEA Prescription Take Back Day Event in the Antelope Valley this year will be held at the Kaiser Permanente Butterfly Building!
Did you know the number of drug overdoses has climbed significantly since 2019. The CDC identified that over 70% of these drug-related deaths in 2019 were attributed to opioids.
In 2020, many drug-caused deaths occurred in the Antelope Valley. Among them were varying types of opioids. In addition, we received data in which Naloxone was administered to individuals who overdosed in various in the Antelope Valley.
The 2021 National Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 24, 2021.
Our friends at the California Highway Patrol will be hosting a drop off at Kaiser Permanente in Lancaster located at 615 W. Avenue L (The butterfly building) between 10AM and 2PM.
They will be allowing the public to bring their prescription medication, over the counter medication that are unused or expired, and e-cigarette/vaping devices (which are considered hazardous waste) to ensure the safety of our families as well as reduce harms that can potentiate substance use and/or misuse.
Our communities are facing an opioid crisis. By hosting events such as the DEA Take Back Day in addition to substance use prevention education.
