LOCATION: Dale Evans Parkway and Stoddard Wells Road, Town of Apple Valley
DRIVER #1: Jessica Verduzcocosio, 29-years-old, Pacoima resident, driving gray 2016 Nissan Altima
PASSENGER: 32-year-old female, Victorville resident
DRIVER #2: Family notification pending, 26-year-old Hispanic male, Barstow resident
driving a black 2013 Chevrolet Camaro
PASSENGERS: 23-year-old female and three-year-old boy, Barstow residents
SUMMARY: On April 22, 2021, at about 9:26 pm, deputies from the Apple Valley Station, emergency personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision in the area of Dale Evans Parkway and Stoddard Wells Road in the Town of Apple Valley.
Through investigation, deputies determined the Nissan Altima was eastbound on Stoddard Wells Road approaching Dale Evans Parkway, and the Chevrolet Camaro was northbound on Dale Evans Parkway approaching Stoddard Wells Road. Both vehicles collided in the intersection of Dale Evans Parkway and Stoddard Wells Road. Medical personnel responded to the scene; however, the driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced deceased. The two other passengers in the Chevrolet sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The driver and passenger of the Nissan sustained injuries and were also transported to a local hospital.
Deputies from the Apple Valley Police Station's Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded and conducted the investigation. Investigation is currently ongoing to determine if drugs or alcohol impairment was a factor in this collision. Dale Evans Parkway and Stoddard Wells Road were closed for approximately six hours while deputies conducted the investigation.
The collision is currently under investigation by the Apple Valley Police Department, and deputies are seeking additional witnesses.
