     On April 24, 2021, United Way, Safe Kids and Rutherford County Sheriff Office held its Spring Pill Drop Takeback.  Due to COVID-19 Pill Drop was suspended for approximatley 1 year.  United Way, Safekids and Rutherford County Sheriff Office decided to take additional measures to keep the public safe and continue to offer this service and continue its efforts in preventing pill diversion or pollution into water ways by improper disposal of medication.  Approximatley 134.2 pounds of various medications such as prescription medication, over the counter medication, and controlled substances were collected during this Pill Drop and will be incenerated at another location.  United Way, Safekids and Rutherford County Sheriff Office would like to thank the citizens of Rutherford County for turning out and contributing to this cause.  As a reminder to citizens of Rutherford County there are permanant drop boxes at Rutherford County Sherifff's Office and all other City Police Departments that operate during normal business hours Monday through Friday.
