Sumpter Township Community Risk Reduction Program
SUMPTER TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY RISK REDUCTION PROGRAM
We are excited to announce the new Sumpter Township Community Risk Reduction Program! With the implementation of this program, the police and fire departments will be able to serve everyone in the community, with a focus on our special needs residents, better.
We have created an information form for our special needs residents to provide critical information to the police and fire departments to help us better serve you in an emergency. This information will be securely stored in our computer dispatching system and only be available to emergency responders. Along with gathering critical information, we have a custom-made identification card that will assist responders in identifying your need for extra care and assistance even if you are away from home. These identification cards will be provided free of charge to special needs residents and their caregivers.
We are also providing reflective stickers to identify the special needs resident's safe area in your home. The stickers will be placed on the room's window where the special needs residents are most likely to be found. These stickers will help fire crews locate the individual faster in the event of a fire.
As part of this program, we also provide free smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to anyone in the township that needs them. If you need assistance finding the correct location and installing them, Fire Lieutenant Jamie Goode will come to your house and assist you. We are also providing help in creating emergency escape plans and training with your family on them.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a time for Lieutenant Goode to come to your house and assist you with the forms, escape plans, or smoke/CO detectors, give us a call or send us an email.
