LOCATION: Desert area behind the 13400 block of Mariposa Road
SUSPECT(S): Unknown
VICTIM: Jafet Castaneda, age 38 a resident of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, April 25, 2021, at approximately 12:59 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to the desert area behind the 13400 block of Mariposa Road, following the report of shots heard. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, later identified as Jafet Castaneda, lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to conduct the investigation.
No arrests have been made; no additional information is available for release at this time.
