Vehicle Crash

On April 27, 2021 at approximately 11:14 AM the Cross Plains Police Department performed a traffic stop on a white Pontiac in their Village.  The vehicle fled and the pursuit was terminated.  At approximately 11:21 AM Middleton officers observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on University Avenue matching the description of the vehicle in the Cross Plains incident.

Middleton officers did not try to initiate a stop on the vehicle, but it accelerated as it continued eastbound.  The vehicle did not stop for a red light at the intersection of University Avenue and Parmenter Street which caused a three-vehicle crash.  This resulted in multiple minor injuries and significant property damage.

The driver of the white Pontiac fled on foot but was arrested a short distance from the scene.  He was identified as Roland J. Scott, 19, of Madison.  Scott was transported to the hospital and subsequently booked into the Dane County Jail on charges of Resisting an Officer, Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Deliver, and a body only warrant through Jefferson County.  He was also issued citations for multiple traffic offenses.  The Cross Plains Police Department will also be referring charges for their incident.

The Middleton Police Department would like to thank the Middleton Fire District, the Madison Fire Department, and Cross Plains EMS for their assistance on this incident.
