Advisory

The USFS, Truckee Ranger District, is planning on burning up to 400 acres over the next week in the Sagehen area.

The USFS, Truckee Ranger District is planning on burning up to 400 acres over the next week in the Sagehen area.  Prescribed fire operations are planned starting April 29th and will continue over the next week if conditions allow.    Multiple fire engines and crews will be on site during firing operations and  these crews will continue to monitor burn units throughout the burn down process.   Vegetation will smolder and fire may creep for several days during the burn down period.  This process is expected and normal as it is removing more fuel and releasing more nutrients into the soils.    Smoke will be visible from Interstate 80, HWY 89 North, Truckee, Tahoe Donner, and the Stampede area.

Thanks
