FEMA is hosting a Virtual Open House on Flood Risk and Insurance
Do you know your flood risk? FEMA is hosting a Virtual Open House on Flood Risk and Insurance to provide residents of the town of Clinton and the townships of Clinton, Franklin, Raritan, Readington, and Union in Hunterdon County with an opportunity to learn more and ask questions about their updated flood maps, known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs). This will be a joint conversation with Hunterdon and Somerset riverine communities. FEMA representatives will be on the phone to answer questions about flood risk, flood insurance, and ways to prepare for and protect against flooding.
The Virtual Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, April 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. through Zoom, a virtual conferencing tool. The registration link is: http://bit.ly/FEMAHunterdonSomerset. All are welcome to join.
To request a reasonable accommodation (sign language, real-time captioning, or other), please email [email protected] or [email protected] or call 833-285-7448, FEMA’s Civil Rights Resource Line.
Flooding is the number one natural disaster in the United States. It is vital that community members understand their risk and take advantage of the tools and programs available to them, including flood insurance. Flood insurance companies use the maps and associated Flood Insurance Study report to determine flood insurance costs.
