SUBJECT:  Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Narcotics Arrests

LOCATION: Rt. 35 and Valley Road in Ocean Township         
 
ACCUSED: Shahid Collins 42 year old male of Toms River, NJ and Theresa M. Martinez 37 year old female of Ocean, NJ.
 
NARRATIVE:   On April 23^rd, 2021 at approximately 8:15 pm Detectives Dean Schoch and Michael Legg were conducting surveillance in the area of Rt. 35 and Valley Road in reference to narcotics activity.  Detectives Schoch and Legg conducted a motor vehicle stop and made contact with Shahid Collins and Theresa Martinez.    Further investigation revealed that Shahid Collins was in possession of Ecstasy and drug paraphernalia. Theresa Martinez was found to be in possession of Heroin and drug paraphernalia.  Collins and Martinez were placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing.  Collins was charged with Possession of Ecstasy, Possession with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Martinez was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Evidence.  Both Collins and Martinez were released on criminal summonses pending an initial court appearance.
