The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Southeastern Greene County in southwestern Missouri... Central Webster County in southwestern Missouri... Northwestern Wright County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 430 AM CDT.

* At 1238 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Springfield, Marshfield, Battlefield, Strafford, Rogersville, Niangua, Northview and Turners. This includes the following highways... Interstate 44 between mile markers 83 and 102. This includes the following low water crossings... Farm Road 164 at The James River just east of Springfield, Greenwood Road at The Pomme de Terre Headwaters, Route A just south of Marshfield, Highway 125 just south of Highway 60, North Iron Mountain Road at Panther Creek near Fordland, Greenwood Road 5 miles west of Marshfield and Farm Road 134 at The James River northeast of Turners.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GREENE, MO ... WEBSTER, MO ... WRIGHT, MO

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
