Flood Warning until 12:15PM

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a

* Flood Warning for... Pope County in central Arkansas... Baxter County in north central Arkansas... Southern Boone County in north central Arkansas... Marion County in north central Arkansas... Newton County in north central Arkansas... Searcy County in north central Arkansas... Western Stone County in north central Arkansas... Northern Van Buren County in north central Arkansas... Johnson County in western Arkansas... Northeastern Logan County in western Arkansas...

* Until 1215 PM CDT Thursday.

* At 614 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.

* Heavy rainfall has moved out of the warned area, however water runoff will continue over the next several hours. Areas streams and rivers may continue to rise or remain nearly steady.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Russellville, Harrison, Mountain Home, Clarksville, Paris, Bull Shoals, Marshall, Yellville, Jasper, Gassville, Lamar, Dover, Flippin, London, Lakeview in Baxter County, Knoxville, Subiaco, Hartman, Norfork and Hector.

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
