Community "STOP THE BLEED" classes to be held for Township residents.
The South Londonderry Township Police Department is proud to announce an opportunity for South Londonderry Township residents to be trained to “Stop The Bleed”. The class will educate participants on how to get involved during a traumatic incident and save lives. Three classes will be scheduled initially, on Wednesday, May 12th from Noon-4:00 p.m.; and Thursday, May 13th; and Friday, May 14th from 5:00 p.m.-9:00p.m. Classes will be held in the community classroom at the South Londonderry Township Municipal Building, 27 W. Market St., Palmyra, PA.
The STOP THE BLEED initiative was launched by the White House and the Department of Homeland Security in October of 2015 as a call to action, which encourages bystanders and first responders to become “trained, equipped, and empowered” to assist in an emergency before professional rescuers arrive on-scene.
The STOP THE BLEED campaign is an important public outreach and educational program that is designed to increase the pool of first care providers by training bystanders to respond to one of the most common causes of preventable trauma death- uncontrolled bleeding.
Participants of the course will learn basic bleeding control techniques that will greatly lessen massive blood loss through early recognition, early activation of the emergency response system, and early intervention during a traumatic event.
Please contact Patrolman Jared Zimmerman by email at [email protected] to reserve your seat. The class size will be limited to 8 participants. If you cannot attend any of the scheduled times, please inform Patrolman Zimmerman of your interest so we can try to plan additional course dates.
Thank you!
