The County of Santa Clara will perform the microsurfacing application on Foothill Expressway (El Monte Avenue to San Antonio Road) from Monday, May 3, to Thursday, May 6. Microsurfacing is a preventative pavement coating, very similar to slurry seal, consisting of emulsified asphalt and fine aggregates. During the operation, one vehicle lane will remain open in each direction at all times but left turns will be restricted on some days. Please watch for advanced warning signs for provided detours and plan your commute with the construction delay in mind. Once microsurfacing is completed, the County will begin striping and marking installations, which is the last phase of the project. For more information on the project, please visit the County’s project website.
