SUBJECT OF RELEASE: One Car Injury Crash
 
DATE AND TIME:  Approximately 8:36 P.M. on Thursday, April 29, 2021.
 
LOCATION:  North New Street near East Pine Street, City of Stanton

Montcalm County Deputies responded to a report of a car crashing into a pole near the intersection of North New Street and East Pine Street in the City of Stanton at approximately 8:36 P.M. on Thursday, April 29, 2021.  As a result of the collision, the car caught fire.
 
The investigation revealed a 1999 Dodge Durango turned south onto North New Street from East Pine Street.  The vehicle then left the roadway to the right and struck a utility pole.  The vehicle caught fire and the driver was knocked unconscious.  Two witnesses were able to pull the driver from the burning vehicle to safety as the flames grew.  The driver, a 41-year-old Stanton woman, was transported to United Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 
 
The crash remains under investigation; however, speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
 
The deputies were assisted by Montcalm County Central Dispatch, Montcalm County Emergency Services, the Stanton Fire Department and the Michigan State Police.
