Suspect Who Made SHERIFF VICTOR HILL’S V.I.P. (Violent Impact Player) List Now In Custody
One of the many proactive crime fighting methods implemented by Sheriff Victor Hill is to monitor known criminals who based on a approved point system have a high statistical propensity to be involved in violent crimes involving firearms. Once these known criminals are identified, they are placed on the Sheriff's V.I.P. list and monitored for criminal activity. This method has proven effective for crime reduction and is one of many reasons why Clayton County is experiencing a consistent violent crime downtrend.
Samuel Wooten based on the approved point system made #1 on Sheriff Victor Hill’s V.I.P. list, therefore when a warrant was issued for his arrest for probation violation for aggravated battery, the Sheriff task his elite Fugitive Squad to make finding Wooten a priority.
Last night while conducting surveillance members of the Fugitive Squad spotted Wooten popping his head out of an apartment. Wooten surrendered without incident once they entered the apartment. A strong odor of marijuana was present at the apartment which caused Investigators to secure a search warrant for the residence. After the search warrant was obtained, Investigators located 4.18oz of marijauna, 27 white rectangular bars of Xanax, 3 handguns, a rifle, and a large sum of cash. An additional arrest was made of a suspect identified as Keith Chambers who was also found to be involved.
Wooten and Chambers were charged with O.C.G.A. 16-13-30 Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, 16-13-30 Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, 16-11-106 Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes. Only Wooten was charged with 16-11-131 Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Wooten and Chambers are both now both facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para- military jail now better known to all as “The Hill-ton”.
